Mechatronics 2 Project

The scope of this project involves receiving two pieces of cardboard at two designated locations in the system. An input ramp will be used to place one cardboard piece onto the flipping mechanism, and another cardboard piece will be placed directly onto the conveyor belt.

To the immediate left, there is a drawing depicting the expected motions and locations where cardboard will be received. Below that there is a picture of the final system to the left and a video of the system combining two pieces of cardboard to the right.

Mechatronics 1 Final Project

This project was made to receive an order, calculate the expected weight and search for the order on 1 of 3 scales. It would then position an electromagnet over the order, lower to pick it up. Then rotate 90 degrees using a track and put the order down.

This was meant to be utilized in fast-food and drive-thru settings, as a way to lessen the worker's need to hand the order to a customer.

If I were to improve the project anymore, I would:

  • Make it on a smaller scale

  • Increase my gear ratio for the motor moving the arm on the track

  • Redesign the circuit to work on a single power supply (preferably AC so it works plugged into a wall)

Mechanical Engineering Tools Lab: Design Project

The goal of this project was to design a tool that could assist people in a wheelchair when opening doors.

Mechanical Engineering Tools Lab Stirling Engine

Stirling engine parts were drawn and assembled in Creo. Then most of the parts were machined and assembled into a working Stirling engine.

Mechanical Systems I: Final Design Project

In this project, groups were assigned a problem statement, assumed to have come from a client. My group was asked to design a new and exciting amusement park attraction. Clicking on Project Details will open a pdf that goes over how we came up with our final design, see pictures on the left of the final design. Clicking on Prototype will open a video of the prototype being manually moved.

Materials Testing

In this lab, we were given sample materials that we had to perform common material tests on, then report our findings on how the material behaved, how we would calculate the material properties. The buttons below link to a pdf of the reports for the tension tests and torsion tests.
